Career planning for a promotion can lead to rapid career progression

How much are you standing in the way of your own career progression?

If you can answer “Yes” to the following questions you could be holding yourself back:

Do you really need to be an expert in your current role before asking about a promotion?
Are you making assumptions about company procedures?
Are you failing to perceive how you come across to others?
Are you holding onto past behaviours and beliefs that no longer serve you?

Often you need to demonstrate that you can do the role before you get the recognition or remuneration. This is more than competency as you need to have the softer skills as well. The softer skills can be the hardest to acquire.

Do you need to build your self-belief?
Do you need to raise your profile?
Do you need to work on your identity?
Do you need to influence upwards?
Do you need to manage your impact?
Do you need to improve your presence?

I use my 20 years’ experience as a recruitment consultant and my expertise as a coach to help you unlock what you want from your career and get rid of the mental blocks that are keeping you stuck and stopping you from moving forwards. I will help you find out what you really want from your career and show you how to go about getting it by building your confidence, developing your self-awareness and fine tuning your communication skills.

I am a certified Executive Coach from Henley Business School and accredited by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) which is the only globally recognized, independent coaching authority.  In addition to extensive UK based experience, I have an excellent multicultural background having lived and worked in Central, Southern & Eastern Europe and Asia with experience of setting up new businesses and recruiting and leading large teams.

Case Study

Chris was a highly successful Account Manager in a well-known advertising agency who wanted to progress to Account Director level.  His problem was that although he was well-liked, he was also viewed as being a bit laddish and lacking the softer skills to manage a diverse team.

Working with Chris helped him understand that the skills that had helped him progress his career to date, no longer served him now that he wanted a promotion.  Coaching helped him identify what kind of manager he wanted to be and how he wanted his team to view him.  We looked at how he would manage his former peers and take a more inclusive approach and influence senior management.

Through the coaching, Chris gained better self-awareness and introduced a coaching approach with his team.  He was voted one of the top 20 employees out of 1,000 members of staff.
